Minnesota-Specific Wilderness Rules
BWCAW permits ($16/person plus $6 reservation fee) required for all overnight use. Motorized quota applies to some entry points — check motor vs. non-motor permit when booking. Bears present throughout — hang food using BWCAW-standard hangs (10 feet high, 4 feet from trunk). Portage routes are well-maintained but carry gear accordingly. Mosquitoes and black flies are intense May–July.
