Michigan-Specific Wilderness Rules
Isle Royale National Park (accessible by ferry or floatplane) requires a $7/person/night backcountry permit — book on recreation.gov. Bear canisters required on Isle Royale. Wolf and moose are present on Isle Royale — one of the few places in the US to observe this predator-prey relationship. Sylvania Wilderness has strict "no motorized" rules on all interior lakes.
