Missouri-Specific Wilderness Rules
No permit required for Missouri wilderness areas. Campfire permits required in Mark Twain NF during dry season. Black bears in the Ozarks are increasing — hang food properly. Bell Mountain Wilderness has the highest point in southern Missouri with good views. Current and Jacks Fork Rivers (Ozark NSR) offer excellent float camping with no permit but $5/person river fee.
