Canada geese are the most recognizable waterfowl in North America, with a distinctive black head and neck, white cheek patch, and brown-to-gray body. A resident population (Giant Canada Goose) has expanded dramatically, creating year-round hunting opportunities in many states separate from the migratory season. They travel in V-formations and their honking calls are unmistakable. Adults weigh 8-20 lbs depending on subspecies.
