Nevada-Specific Wilderness Rules
Great Basin NP backcountry is free with a self-issue permit at the visitor center. Ruby Mountains ("Switzerland of Nevada") offer alpine lakes and dramatic terrain — one of Nevada's most scenic but undervisited wilderness areas. Fire permits required in USFS areas. No bears in most of Nevada except rare black bears in Ruby Mountains.
