They display coarse, bristly dark hair, a distinct shoulder hump, and a long snout adapted for rooting. Males carry prominent curved tusks capable of inflicting serious injury. Adults range from 100-400 lbs, with occasional boars exceeding 500 lbs. They can be hunted year-round in most states with no bag limit, making them an accessible hunting opportunity throughout the year.
