How to Get a Fishing Guide License in Utah
Commercial fishing guides and charter operators in Utah must be licensed through Utah Division of Wildlife Resources before accepting any paying clients.
1
Obtain a Personal Fishing License
Before applying for a guide license, you must hold a valid Utah fishing license. Guides must have personal fishing licenses for all species they intend to guide. This is separate from the guide license itself.
2
Gather Application Materials
Prepare your application materials: completed application form, proof of current fishing license, any required certifications, and fee payment ($100.00 resident).
3
Submit Your Application
Submit your completed application to Utah Division of Wildlife Resources online, by mail, or at a licensing office.

Renew Annually & Stay Current
Utah fishing guide licenses must be renewed annually. Keep your personal fishing license current, maintain required insurance coverage, and ensure your vessel meets all safety equipment requirements before each season. Guide licenses may be revoked for fishing violations.
