Idaho-Specific Wilderness Rules
Idaho contains more wilderness acreage than any other state in the contiguous US. Bear hangs required — no canister mandate. Float trips on the Middle Fork of the Salmon and Main Salmon require float permits (lottery system). Fire permits required across USFS lands. Grizzly bears present in Frank Church and Selway-Bitterroot — practice bear safe camping.
