Trail Access
Idaho OHV Trails & Public Land Access
Idaho does not require a separate trail permit — OHV registration alone grants access to designated public land riding areas.
The state has approximately 16,000 miles of OHV-designated trails.

Idaho-Specific OHV Rules
Idaho OHV stickers must be affixed to the left side of the machine. Riders under 18 must wear an approved helmet. Children under 10 may not operate an OHV on public land.
Street Legal: ATVs are not street-legal on most Idaho roads. Some UTVs qualify for road use with appropriate equipment.
Noise Limits: 96 dB limit on USFS lands.
